P1x44r.com

Where nothing has to make any sense.

Progress on P1x44r.com review

Well, the website is coming along quite nicely. Since I started work on it late last month, I have completed a pretty solid chunk. All sections are pretty much alive and finished, maybe with an exception of a few cross-browser quirks you might encounter here and there. In this regard IE is being a jerk as usually. It does not understand some CSS that my main browser Firefox does, and, to be honest, since this website was coded and validated in Firefox I'm not planning on spending a lot of time to figure out workarounds for Microsoft's browser.

Moving on to the sections however... Main page or Home has latest bits from Journal and Reviews sections. Seven most recent articles are displayed here. At the bottom of each you will see the author(most likely myself) as well as number of comments as a clickable anchor. If you follow it, you will be brought to the comments section for that article where you can read and leave comments. Next we have Journal section which is pretty much the same as the main page with added search functionality. As of now Journal will display all articles entered here, but I will soon implement an interface that will let you only view articles for a particular month. Reviews is a twin of Journal. apart from the obvious content difference, Reviews section also gives you possibility to view reviews by alphabet. What else?

Oh yes, next you have Gallery, perhaps the most important section of this website. It is Gallery that inspired me to start work on p1x44r.com. I was looking for an easy way of storing and viewing diffrent images/photos on the internet. Ready to go gallery software did not allow flexibility I wanted, most were too complex to my liking. It was for these reasons I decided to throw something together myself. Something easy enough to incorporate into a website. Once Gallery piece was finished, I thought it would be a good idea to expand the website, turning it into some sort of a personal blog. Not to say that I'm good at writing, but I like spending an hour or two writing my thoughts down on paper sometimes. a web page is a good enough replacement for paper and this keyboard is for a pen.

My System section is an afterthought really. It is meant to replace my forum signatures at places like Rage3D, ABXzone, xblRacing and others. I frequent in many different boards, so once I upgrade my main PC, it becomes a hassle to update my signatures everywhere. It is much more convenient to update it just one time here and link to My System page for most up to date specs after.

Emoticons section is an appreciation to the most talented person(when it comes to smileys anyway) I've ever seen work of. They're simply stunning to me and now anyone can take a look at them here. The author's name is Rockey and his website could be found by pointing your browser to www.rokey.net Since it's hosted in Asia(Japan?) it is very slow, so have some patience while loading pages.

There there's Files. Not much to say about it. Some stuff I host here, all very small files not to kill my bandwidth. So far, just some of my favorite Firefox icons and Stardock's IconPackager theme.

Contact Me is a quick way to get in touch with myself. I encourage everyone to use it as often as you like. I'm open to all suggestions, comments and even critique. Write me!

Well, that was a quick summary of what you will find at p1x44r.com. Nothing fancy, but I think it will do for now. Not that i'm expecting to get any significant traffic really. This page will most likely be one of those silent floaters of the internet. If you happen to sumble across it and are reading it at the moment, please be kind and say some words.

This upcoming weekend I will be concentrating on content management part of the site. By this I mean admin section of the site which wil elt me add articles quicker and with less formatting. Hopefully I will find enough free time to work on this come Saturday.

That's about all I wanted to say in regards to p1x44r.com. It is what it is, but I'm always here to extend and make it better for you.

Cheers.
