Where nothing has to make any sense.

Major Overhaul of p1x44r.com review

It's been a busy couple of days for me. Yesterday morning the site was moved onto a different server, supposedly a much snappier box. Thanks to Max for making this happen. Anyhow, once I transferred my flat file based content I had noticed that post dates were off. You see, I was relying on file creation dates to determine when articles have been submitted. Obviously, on the new machine the files were recreated with current date/time so their order was all mixed up. Nothing much I could do about it, so, after thinking about it for a few hours, I decided to re-write the entire website and have it running off a MySQL database.

After two days of work, the first results could be seen. Most of the website is running off the new code at this point. There are some sections that still rely on the old engine, but I'm working on those. If everything goes well, by early next week p1x44r.com should be all running off a database. As it is now, there are some major pieces still missing. A good example would be the search functionality. It used to be all flat file based, so I will need to re-write it to use MySQL instead.

I didn't change any of the HTML much, so it should remain functional in three major browsers(IE, Firefox and Opera). However, if you spot an oddity, please let me know.

Oh yes, and most of your comments are missing at this point. I will slowly import them into the database, so everything should be back in its place in the end.
